I love my town! We have great events, a small town feel, the ability to participate in aspects of the community. It is a fantastic place to call home. So when my mother-in-law decided to relocate for retirement to Farmville, VA I was excited. She would be able to live and breathe what I have grown to love.
She is arriving tomorrow to buy a home. And I am frantically looking for a home for her to call her own. I have called my fellow Realtors to see if they have future listings coming on the market, I have searched for for sale by owners, I have walked with my dog on every street with a home within town limits looking for activity that often indicates a future home sale.
At this time I realize how little real estate is one the market in her price range and caliber of home. I will face one of the largest challenges of my life. Will I be able to help her see the potential in the current real estate for sale? We will visit 4 or 5 homes that will meet her minimum needs-master on the main level, a walking neighborhood and a home that doesn't immediately need thousands of dollars in work. Will I be able to find her temporary housing if what is currently available doesn't meet her needs? Will I have the patience to help her build a home if that becomes the best option?
For now, I will just focus on~~I can do this!
