Farmville Virginia's Waterworks is Hosting Auditions for the Musical Chicago

A community theatre is an resource that Farmville Virginia is fortunate to have.  Waterworks entertains us at a reasonable cost and always a good show.  They couldn't do it without the volunteers who act and run the show.  If you live in Central Virginia and have always dreamed of the big stage your time has come.

This weekend Waterworks will be holding auditions for Chicago.  If you are a budding thesapian or broadway wanna be this audition is for you.  Sing in your church choir and Sunday morning just doesn't fulfill you--you want more, this audition is for you!  Sing in the shower and you are sure the world is missing your talent-- This audition is for you! Get you game on and get to the auditions!

Auditions for Chicago

Waterworks Players Auditions for ChicagoThe Waterworks Players next production is Chicago.  Set in the roaring twenties, Chicago has everything that makes musical theatre great:  a universal tale of fame and fortune, show-stopping tunes, dancing, not to mention “all that jazz.” The Tony Award-winning musical is based on a play of the same name written by reporter Maurine Dallas Watkins, who wrote sensational columns in the Chicago Tribune of women tried for murder in 1924.  Music was composed by John Kander, while lyrics were penned by Fred Ebb.  Bob Fosse choreographed the original 1975 Broadway production and his dance style continues to be strongly associated with the show.  Some of the best known musical numbers include All That Jazz, Cell Block Tango, Roxie, My Own Best Friend, and Razzle Dazzle.

Auditions will be held at 7:30 pm on Sunday and Monday, August 28th & 29th at the Waterworks Theater.  There are both male and female singing lead parts, in addition to many chorus roles.  In total a cast of about 20 singers and dancers is needed, ages 18 and up (roughly equal numbers of men and women).  Come prepared to sing either with your own music or read from the score.  There will also be cold readings from the script.

In addition, we need a number of stage hands to assist during technical week rehearsals and the four public performances.

The show runs October 7, 8, 14, and 15 at 8pm.

For more information or to volunteer, contact the Waterworks Players at 434-392-3452 or info@waterworksplayers.org.

It's so fun when a community utilizes local talent for these productions.  Our area does the same in a wonderful venue on our downtown square.  Very nice post to promote these tryouts and event!

Thanks Connie and you are lucky to also have a venue!  I am often amazed at how many communities have no exposure to theatre.

Melville, I do live in the most famous town of all.

Navona:  And so, Ms Hart... for what part will YOU be auditioning.  With a voice like yours, and your abundance of charm... I would think you would be an "automatic."  Your fans await the results.

Karen, if singing weren't involved I would be all over it.  I love the theatre!
